Joey Dunahoo

Joey Dunahoo, age 62, of Cornelia, passed away on Friday, August
12, 2022.

Born on July 3, 1960, in Hamilton, Georgia, he was a son of Shirley Moye Dunahoo of Clermont and the late Emory West Dunahoo, Sr. Joey was a self-employed builder, who also worked in transportation and logistics.  He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy West Dunahoo (Sarah) of Alto, and Chase Alexander Dunahoo (Amber) of Demorest; daughters, Jessica Smith of Dahlonega, and Olivia Grace Dunahoo of Indiana; grandchildren, April Dunahoo, Camden Dunahoo, Robin Layne Dunahoo, Reagan Smith, Conner Smith, and Joseph Reid Dunahoo; brothers, Emory West Dunahoo, Jr. of Gillsville, and Marcus Dunahoo of Clermont; sister, Robin Dunahoo Aikens of Gainesville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 & 6-8 pm on Monday, August, 15, 2022, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.

No formal service is planned at this time.

Carol Houston

Carol Houston, age 84, of Alto, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

Born on August 4, 1938, in Tiger, she was a daughter of the late Vaugn Nichols and Lillian Vedell Shook. 
Mrs. Houston retired from Nichols Department store where she was the receiving and shipping manager. After 
her husband passed away, she worked in various retirement homes. She enjoyed working in her rose garden and 
loved her husband and sister. Mrs. Houston was a member of Glade Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Houston; brothers, Randall Lovell, Perry Shook, Robert Lyn Shook and Freddie Shook; and sister, Viola Nichols.

Survivors include brother, Chester W. Shook of Demorest; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Webb (Ronnie) and 
Kathy Archer (Mike) of Clarkesville; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Watson Lamar "Boots" Pitts

Watson Lamar “Boots” Pitts, age 76, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022.

Born on February 3, 1946, in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Tom Watson Pitts and Sarah Lela Sellers Pitts. Mr. Pitts retired after 37 years from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked as an Engineer. He enjoyed telling stories of his time spent with the railroad. He also enjoyed working with livestock, going to livestock sales and going to auctions. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Beulah Stapleton and Jerri Hendrix; brother, Tim Pitts; and brother-in-law, Keith Dockins.

Survivors include special friend and companion, Brenda Crunkleton of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Pitts (Cheryl) of Mt. Airy, Brad Pitts (Tamara) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Heather Pitts and Drew Pitts; brother, Doug Pitts of Clermont; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Cook (John) of Suwanee, Lisa Dockins of Mt. Airy; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Raymond Payne and Drew Pitts officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dianne Briggs Gallagher

Dianne Briggs Gallagher, age 77, of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Born on October 4, 1944, in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late Wiley Crawford Briggs and Martha Marlene Adams Briggs. Mrs. Gallagher was a lifelong resident of Habersham County and a beloved teacher who retired from South Habersham after 24 years. She was a devoted member of the Habersham Board of Education, where she served as Chairman 
and Vice-Chairman.  She also served eight years as Curriculum Director in White County and one year in Hall County.

 
Mrs. Gallagher was a member of the Georgia Association of Educators, National Association of Educators, Habersham Association of Educators and the Cornelia Kiwanis Club.  She was inducted into the GA Teachers Hall of Fame in 1991 and was voted the 1993 State Middle School Science Teacher of the Year.  She held degrees from Piedmont College, North Georgia College, and Clemson University. Mrs. Gallagher dedicated her life to education and professed her greatest legacy 
was devotion to her family and influencing countless lives in a career of over 40 years.

Mrs. Gallagher was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family, and was known as the “family matron”. In her spare time, she was an avid vegetable and flower gardener who also enjoyed traveling with her husband. She loved the different seasons of the year, and was sure to set the table with a meal and holiday decor.  

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, James Richard “Rick” Gallagher of Cornelia, son and daughter-in-law, James Richard “Jim” Gallagher, Jr. (Jill) of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Maria Marrero (Tom) of Johns Creek; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Feuvrel, Anna Burroughs, Abby Burroughs, Audrey Marrero, Justin Gallagher, John Luke Gallagher, Jennings Gallagher, and 
Benjamin Gallagher; great grandchildren, William Feuvrel, Mason Jones, Cooper Jones, Lilliana Feuvrel, Mariana Feuvrel, Nicholas Feuvrel and Christian Feuvrel; great-great grandchild, Natalie Feuvrel; and sister, Eileen Hollowbush of Camphill, Pennsylvania.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 4 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Willie Joe Lunsford

Willie Joe Lunsford, age 86, of the New Liberty Community, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Born on September 28, 1935, in Carnesville, he was the son of the late Eugene Thomas Lunsford and Jewell 
Patterson Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford was retired from Fieldale where he was a Field Supervisor. He was an avid 
outdoorsman, who was especially fond of hunting with his wife and fishing. He was a member of the Soque Hunting Club, and enjoyed spending time with his hunting friends. In his spare time, he also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Lunsford loved his family and friends and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Lunsford and Frank Lunsford; great 
grandson, Cody Cheyenne Holbrooks.

Rita Canupp Kinsey

Rita Canupp Kinsey age 66, of Mt. Airy, went home to be with the Lord and join the family reunion on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

Born on December 30, 1955 in Stephens County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Garner and Agnes McIntyre. 
Rita was formerly employed by Crane Transport and recently owned and operated Truckers Docs. She loved her 
critters, reading and her church family at Clearview Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Sue Canupp; and sister/daughter, 
Angie Demmings.

Surviving family who will be waiting to join her at the family reunion include daughter, Melanie F. Kinsey; “sister/daughter,” Donna Martin and Mark Rape; grandchildren, Misty Norton, Preston Maddox and Haven Maddox; 
great grandchildren, Emily, Amber, Rae, and Alan Norton; brother and sister-in-law, Michael “Foot” and Betty Levy;
sister and brother-in-law, Robbie and Robert Crump; much loved cousins, nieces and nephews, and very special 
cousin, Susan Parshall.

Mary Frances "Mimi" Cochran Funk

Mary Frances “Mimi” Cochran Funk, age 80, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

Born on August 17, 1941 in Sylva, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Worth Grant Warren and Helen Jones Warren. Mrs. Funk retired from Johnson and Johnson where she worked in quality control. She was an avid reader and bingo player and enjoyed crocheting blankets, baking cakes for her family and the community. She was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves! Mrs. Funk was a member of Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW and the last member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Franklin Funk; son, Terry Grant Funk; 
brothers, Cecil Cochran, Larry Cochran and Jimmy “Buddy” Cochran; and sister, Margaret “Peggy” Cochran.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy Funk (Lettie) of Bradenton, Florida, Robin Funk of Homer, Todd Funk of Cornelia; daughter, Susan Metz of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jonathan, David (Chantley), and Zack Funk, who were raised in her home, Trista Koenigseder (Casey), Grant Funk (Ashley), Garrett Metz, Kylie Dixon (Aubrey), Claire Metz, and Riley Kastner; great grandchildren, Blake Phothisane, 
Noah Funk, Chance Funk, Myles Funk, Raelynn Dixon, Ava Dixon, Marlee Dixon, and Vaden Metz.

Memorial Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 6, 2022 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with David Terrell officiating. Inurnment will follow in the VFW Memorial Park Cemetery.

Charlotte Ann Nation Holcomb, age 70, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Born on October 19, 1951, in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late Willie Lee Nation and Bonnie Estell Mans. Mrs. Holcomb was retired from Northeast Georgia Medical Center as a unit secretary with 22 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, William James Bowden; sisters, Vicky Watkins and Debra Ryals.

Survivors include son, Kenneth Brian Bowden of Mt. Airy; grandsons, William Zack Bowden of Mt. Airy (U.S. Navy) 
and Brian Dale Bowden of Mt. Airy; brother, Billy Gregory Nation of Lakeland, Florida; sisters, Carolyn Nation of Carnesville, and Shirley Tharp of Cottondale, Florida.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Barbara Joann Gorman Richard

Barbara Joann Gormon Richard, age 83, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

Born on July 29, 1938 in New Castle, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late James L. Gormon and Johanna Smith 
of Indiana. Mrs. Richard was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo. She was a member of the Sertoma Club and of the Trailblazers Four Wheel Drive Club. She was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Elie Richard, Jr., and sister, Donna Jean Chausse.

Survivors include son, Curtis Elie Richard of Toccoa; daughters and son-in-law, Janette Renee Cowart (Jonathan 
Brad) of Clarkesville, and Donna Jean Richard of Franklin, North Carolina; grandchildren: Curtis E. Richard, Jr., 
Alexis C. Taylor, Mackenzie J. Richard, Brittany R. Richard, Ashley Hopper, James O. Ramey, Jr., Gabriel Vermillion,

Robert Alan Richmond, Jr.

Robert Alan Richmond, Jr., age 79, of Alto, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Born on June 30, 1943, in Miami, Florida, he was the son of the late Robert Alan Richmond, Sr. and Marjorie Virginia Sweeting. Mr. Richmond was a retired Civil Engineer who enjoyed traveling and flying, at the age of 16 he flew solo for the first time. In his spare time he enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. He was a member of Airline Baptist Church and was very involved in church activities and his Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Vaughn Richmond; and son, Michael 
Leslie Richmond; and brother, Bill Richmond.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Sullens-Richmond of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Richmond III 
(Julissa); daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Wallace (Scott), Rebecca Porter (Brandon); step-sons and

Imogene Purdy Trotter

Imogene Purdy Trotter, age 83, of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

Born on December 25, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Roy Purdy and Lilly Shirley Purdy. Mrs. Trotter worked at Fieldale for some time and later retired from Habersham Home after a number of years. 

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very giving person, a hard worker and fiercely independent. She never spoke ill of others, enjoyed eating KFC and cooking for her family.  

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Trotter was preceded in death by her first husband, John Bennett Armstrong 
and second husband, Bobby Levi Trotter; sisters, Jeanette Flournoy and Helen Vinson; brothers, Leonard Purdy 
and Garnet Purdy.

Survivors include, daughters, Dinah Kay Johnson of Cornelia and Julie Trotter Murray (fiancé Billy Owenby) both 
of Cornelia; grandchildren and spouses, Kassidy Murray of Cornelia, Brett Downing (Haley) of Dawsonville, Melanie Landers of Cornelia and April Brown (Brooks) of Cornelia; great grandchildren and spouse, Rosalyn Rodriguez (Jose) of Cornelia, Hannah Welborn of Woodstock and Justin Landers of Cornelia; great-great grandchildren, Xander, Violet and Ethan; brother, Leroy Purdy of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Dorothy Kimbrell of Cornelia; numerous other extended relatives and friends.

John Eugene Loggins

John Eugene Loggins, age 75, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

Born on December 26, 1946 in Demorest, he was a son of the late William “Bill” Loggins and Etta Lee House Loggins. Mr. Loggins enjoyed spending time with his family and farming. He was a member at Good News Baptist Church where he loved his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Paula Bryant Loggins; brother, David Loggins; and sister, Willie Loudermilk.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Standridge Loggins of Mt. Airy; children and their spouses, Patricia Echols (Jeff) of Toccoa, Johnny Loggins of Cornelia, Cindy Williamson (Steven) of Mt. Betty Teresa King Browner

Betty Teresa King Browner, age 66 of Baldwin, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022.


Born on February 1, 1956, in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late W. G. King and Gladys Scott King. Mrs. Browner was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers and going to the casino. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and was a Golden Sunshine Club Senior Citizen.

Jesse Lee Smith

Jesse Lee Smith, age 89, of Cornelia, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Born on December 26, 1932, in the Habersham Mills Community, he was the son of the late Floyd and Bertha 
Greemon Smith. Mr. Smith was a United States Army Veteran at which point he was stationed in Germany during 
the Korean War. He worked at Clarkesville Mill and Fieldale Farms Feed Mill where he retired. Mr. Smith loved 
old cars, hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors until his health failed him. He deeply cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was a member of Habersham Baptist Church, but also made many new friends as he supported his son-in-law’s ministry at other local churches.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Mae Stewart Smith and sister, 
Evelyn Marie Moss.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Anthony Shore of Cornelia; grandchildren and their 
spouses, Shelby Shore Norris and Ryan of Cornelia and Cody Shore and Mattie of Cornelia; great-grandchildren, 
Tucker Ryan Norris and Parker Floyd Norris; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart 
with Pastor Anthony Shore and Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in Habersham Cemetery with 
full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Veterans Honor Guard and the Georgia National Guard.

Vickie McDuffie Hunter

Vickie McDuffie Hunter, age 70, of Homer, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

Born on August 7, 1951, in Commerce, she was a daughter of the late Leon McDuffie and Margaret McCoy McDuffie. 

Mrs. Hunter worked for a number of years for Carwood Manufacturing and later retired from Fieldale Farms after 32 years of service. During this time she also worked at Coin Laundry in Baldwin.

 She enjoyed playing games on-line, 
talking and Sunday dinners with her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kathleen McDuffie.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Devin Maxwell (Tina) of Hollywood and Kevin Maxwell of Turnerville; daughters, Penny Maxwell of Homer and Jessica Maxwell of Dillard; grandchildren, Briana (Trevor) Walker, Ethan Maxwell, Timothy Maxwell, Andrew Harris, Halie Harris, Kayleigh Holcomb, Ashley Eubanks, Angel Sutton(Andy), Kate Parson and Jennifer “Abbie” Maxwell; great grandchildren, Ezra Dodd and Annabelle Page; brothers, Kenneth McDuffie of Alto and Michael McDuffie of Clarkesville; sister and brother-in-law, Edwinna Holcomb (Wayne) of Homer; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends; grand dog, Frankenstein Pedro Sebastian Dodd.

Mrs. Martha Bell Jenkins Orsborn

Mrs. Martha Bell Jenkins Orsborn, age 96, of Cornelia, Georgia, departed from earth to glory on Sunday July 17, 2022.

She was the last of 4 siblings, Howard Davis, Hubert Davis and Mae Bell Davis.
Born on October 12, 1925 in Homer, Georgia to the late Fred and Pearl Jenkins. Mrs. Orsborn was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she faithfully served on the Ushers Board for many years. Mrs. Orsborn retired from Yonah Manufacturing and Short Manufacturing. After her retirement you could always find
her in one of her many gardens as soon as the weather was nice. She loved her pets.


She certainly enjoyed her family, especially the entire five generations of
grandchildren. She loved each of us with a very special individual love.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband William Fitz Orsborn; her three sons, Charles Gober, Larry Orsborn and James Orsborn; two daughters, Imogene Jackson and Patricia Ann Mattox.

Mrs. Martha Bell is survived by three daughters, Ruth King of Cornelia, Georgia, Carrie (Curtis) Gibson of Cornelia, Georgia and Debra (Joe) Brown of Hollywood, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews as well. She was affectionately loved by many in the community that looked to her as a mother as well as a grandmother. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to all that came in
contact with her.

Funeral services are 2 pm on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Shady Grove Baptist Church
with Bishop Ernest Burns officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30
pm to lie in state until the service hour. Interment will follow the service at Level
Grove Cemetery.

The family cortege will assemble at the church on Friday, July 22, 2022.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the
funeral home.

Wanda Sue Cantrell Westbrooks

Wanda Sue Cantrell Westbrooks, age 82, of Demorest, passed on away Sunday, July 17, 2022.

Born on May 29, 1940, in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late J.C. Cantrell and Georgia Lou Stephens Cantrell. Mrs. Westbrooks was a homemaker and had a passion for gardening and enjoyed painting. She loved her family and was of the Holiness faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Dillard Westbrooks.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Jonny Westbrooks (Bonnie) of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Tajuana Watts (David) of Demorest; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Ronnie Cantrell of Alto and Randy Cantrell of Cornelia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 22, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Bob Petty officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery.

Christopher Garrett, age 58, of Demorest, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Born on June 1, 1964, he was a son of the late W.G. Garrett and Mary Eldarado Erwin Garrett. Mr. Garrett worked at Fieldale Farms for many years and was of the Christian Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy George Garrett.

Bobby Britton Turner

Bobby Britton Turner, age 84, of Demorest, passed away from this life and went home to be with the Lord 
on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

Born in White County, on May 20, 1938, he was the son of the late Marvin and Ruby Haynes Turner. Bobby was retired after many years as a skilled carpenter. He enjoyed working with his hands, and some of his hobbies included woodworking, and tinkering with radios and TV’s. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching westerns, particularly Gunsmoke. He especially loved spending time with his family and his cat, Girlie.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas (Ophelia) Turner and Larry Turner; brother-in-law, Alton Wofford.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Wade Turner of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and 
Rev. Michael Cochran of Clarkesville; granddaughters, Chelsea and Philip Wilkes of Mt. Airy, Sarah and Eli Benton of Mt. Airy; great grandsons, Lawson and Hunter Wilkes of Mt. Airy; sister, Joyce Wofford of Cleveland; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

There will be a graveside service held at 11 am on Friday, July 15, 2022, at Return Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Cochran officiating.

Lamar D. Parker

Born on January 8, 1945, in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Dave and Cloia Darnell Parker.

 
Mr. Parker retired from the City of Cornelia after 20 years of service, then went on to retire from Fieldale Farms, Inc. after 20 years. He enjoyed trips to the beach and was an avid football fan who especially enjoyed the UGA Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons. Mr. Parker actively attended Bethesda 
Fellowship Church where he served as a Deacon for 35 years and was currently an Honorary Deacon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Lamar Parker; granddaughter, Breanna Campbell; brothers: Dave, Jr., Loyd, and Sammy Parker; and sister, Jean Parker.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly Jarrells Parker of Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Charles Campbell of Alto; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Bethesda Fellowship Church with

Edna Elise Davidson Wade, age 90, of Lula, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022.  

Born on August 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William Gratt “Bill” Davidson and Mary Elizabeth Wiley Davidson. Mrs. Wade enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking and an avid reader. She was a member of Yonah Congregational Holiness Church where she was actively involved in the Ladies Club. Mrs. Wade loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Talmadge Wade; sisters, Hazel Miller, Ruby White, Lois Stephens and Christine Masters; sister-in-law, Betty Haff Davidson; brother-in-law, Johnny Wilbanks.

Survivors include, sons and daughter-in-law, Ray Wade (Sue) of Lula, Billy Wade of Lula; brother, Jack Davidson of Lula; sister, Juanita Wilbanks of Lula; grandchildren and spouses, April Crocker (Rev. Jennifer Ashley England Dexter, age 33, of Alto, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Born on December 27, 1988, in Gainesville, she was a daughter of Margie Autry Patrick of Gainesville. 
Jennifer received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development and went on to work at Cleveland Academy, 
Lakenheath Air Force Base in England, and currently at Willow Academy. She had a passion for those she taught which was seen in her daily work. Jennifer traveled the world, loved the Back Street Boys, and above all, 
loved her children very much. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Ryan Dexter of Cornelia; daughters, Cadence Tate 
of California City, California and Harmony Willow Dexter of Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and

Joel Lee Dodd

Joel Lee Dodd, age 41, of Alto, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Born on April 8, 1981, in Gainesville, he was a son of Franklin and Joy Dodd of Alto.

Joel was a loving father to his daughter, Madelynn, who was the highlight of his life. He was also a rugged outdoorsman with an outgoing and charismatic personality. Heavy equipment was his passion from childhood and he worked successfully in heavy equipment sales for a number of years. He was an avid football fan, especially of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Joel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leroy Dodd; and several aunts.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Madelynn Leigh Dodd of Jefferson; brother and sister-in-law, Casey Dodd (Dakota) of San Diego, California, and their children, James and Lillian Dodd; grandmother, Lillian Dodd of Alto; girlfriend, Zoe Jenkins of Cornelia; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are at 2 pm, Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Scott Ledbetter and Rev. Jeff Lovell officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
