Herman T. Barrett, 84 of Cornelia, Georgia, departed from this earthly realm to join his Lord and Savior on June 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. & Maude Sosebee Barrett, and by his wife, of 49 years, June Moore Barrett, formerly of
Gainesville.
Throughout high school, Barrett was an active 4-H and FFA member, and in 1956, he was named Georgia’s first State Master 4-Her in Production Agriculture based on his record keeping. After high school, Herman applied those foundational leadership skills he obtained from his parents and Ag mentors to serving the agricultural community. He served as past president of Habersham County Farm Bureau and
director emeritus; he also served as past president and was a charter member of the Northeast GA Cattleman’s Association. Barrett served as past board chair of Habersham Electric Membership Corp and (Director Emeritus) and as past board chair of the Chattahoochee Baptist Church Deacon Board.
Agriculture was Mr. Barrett’s livelihood and passion; he was a producer of beef, poultry, and dairy; he also operated Barrett’s Farm Supply and later managed White County Farmers Exchange for sixteen years before retiring back to the farm. Outside of serving God, his family, and the agriculture industry, Herman enjoyed riding Tennessee Walking Horses or hitching up draft horses many days.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert & Donna Barrett of Demorest, daughter, and son-in-law, Nancy and David Bentley of Cornelia, sister, Helen Barrett of Cornelia, and grandchildren Johnathan Barrett of Fort Worth, TX., Allison Barrett of Athens, GA, and Will Barrett of Hendersonville, NC. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jerri Murphy of Hoschton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Chattahoochee Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Gravely and Rev. Chris Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Robin Wilkinson, age 73, of Alto, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
Born on October 25, 1949, in Kearny, New Jersey, he was a son of the late James S. Wilkinson and Joan Heddy Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was retired from Office Depot. Robin was a devoted Christian who loved his family and loved to eat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister/niece, Sue Ann Roper; and sister, Bonnie Davies.

Gregory “Greg” Ray Martin age 57, of Homer, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
Born on May 27, 1966, in Commerce, he was a son of Carolyn Ann Webb Joyce and the late Billy Ray Martin. Greg was self-employed in construction/pool installation, and for 20 years owned Martin Recreation, and Martin Motorsports. In addition, he was the former owner of Satellite Super Store. He loved to work, and was known as a true entrepreneur. He was a Christian, who had successfully overcome addiction and went on to mentor other men in successful recovery. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed racing, and riding his Harley Davidson in his spare time. Greg was a benevolent, gregarious, and humble person, who loved his family and his Mama’s
cooking.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by step-mother, Jeraline Martin; beloved sister, Christa Joyce; cousins, Matt Yates, Melvin and Manfred Webb.

Mr. Charles Edwin Crow, age 76, of Mt. Airy, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 25, 2023, following an extended illness. He was reunited with his parents: Roy and Frances Hardy Crowe and his beloved daughter: DeeDee Crowe Smith.
He was born January 23, 1947 in Habersham County. Charles was an excellent finish carpenter and, along with his brother, owned and operated Crow Construction for more than thirty years. He played softball for Cornelia First Baptist Church, as long as his health allowed, and loved to watch Georgia Bulldogs football and Nascar racing. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing with his grandchildren, and making special keepsakes with his best friend. He was a member of the Woodman of the World, Lodge 553, for more than 48 years. Charles was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Dinah Matthews Crowe; daughter & son-in-law: Natalie & Courtney Umbehant; grandchildren: Jacob Downer, Austin Smith, Noah Umbehant, and Olivia Umbehant; sister & brother-in-law: Sue & Thomas Westmoreland; brothers &
sisters-in-law: Danny & Urann Crowe and Donald & Kathy Crowe; best friends: Ronnie & Pat Parham; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many friends.

James Edward Arrowood, age 59, of Tiger, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Born on January 21, 1964, in Demorest, he was a son of the late Frank Arrowood and Joyce Darlene McClellan Arrowood. James worked in construction for most of his life and was recently employed with Timberlake Custom Builders. He enjoyed art, painting, fishing, telling jokes, and making people laugh. He cherished nature and took delight in bird watching. James was a very talented individual that loved all of creation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Ricky Arrowood.

Faye Baker Anders, age 82, of Martin, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Born on December 29, 1940, in Tiger, she was a daughter of the late Virgil Baker and Della Whitworth Taylor. Mrs. Anders was retired from Coats America and also worked for a time with Fieldale Farms. She was a member of Madison Baptist Church in Westminster, South Carolina and previously attended Good News Baptist Church. Mrs. Anders loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and was a caregiver to those around her. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, camping, and music.
She was known for picking the guitar and singing like Loretta Lynn.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Anders was preceded in death by her husband, Milous O’Neal Anders; children, Gary Thomas and Regina “Skeeter” Rogers; step-father, Henry Taylor; brothers, Norman Baker, Wayne Baker and Larry Taylor; and an infant sister.

Richard William “Dick” Troendly, age 76, of Clarkesville, passed away on
Friday, April 28, 2023.
Born on December 23, 1946, in Payne, Ohio, he was a son of the late Joseph F.
Troendly and Bernadine Knight Troendly. Mr. Troendly was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era. He was a day trader and worked security for an industrial photo lab, but more than anything he enjoyed landscaping. Dick loved gardening, trees, shrubs, and being outside. He was known to be a generous giver and this was shown
as he was his parents dedicated caretaker for 12 years. Mr. Troendly is of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald
Troendly and sister, Delores Vogel.
Survivors include his twin brother and sister-in-law, Robert F. “Bob” Troendly
and Tammie of Clarkesville; several nieces and nephews; and numerous
special friends and neighbors in Blairsville.

Garnett Lamon Burrell, age 96, of Demorest, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 20, 1926, in Mt. Airy, he was a son of the late Jesse Johnathan Burrell and Frances Maybell Loudermilk
Burrell. Mr. Burrell was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during World War II with the
813th Tank Destroyer Battalion Company C in the European Campaign. His division was attached to the 79th Division in the Rhur Valley and the Battle of the Rhine River. After the Rhine River crossing, the battalion was attached to the 101st Airborne liberating Kaufering IV, a Subcamp of Dachau, ending the campaign in Berchtesgaden, Germany. After the war, he was attached to the 42nd Division in Transportation until his discharge in July 1946. He received his Electrician’s License by attending North Georgia Tech on the G.I. Bill. After his military service and schooling, he worked for United Merchants at the Clarkesville Mill Location for over 40 years. Mr. Burrell enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and beekeeping. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church and
former member of the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720 and the Civil Defense.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Elizabeth Ramsey Burrell; brothers, James Clinton “Bill” Burrell and J. Lloyd Burrell; sisters: Senna Starr, Minnie Stephens Shore, Stella Mae Norton, and Monteree Norton; and daughter-in-law, Jeanne Murray Burrell.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law: Walter Lamon Burrell and Peggy of Mt. Airy, Michael Charles Burrell of Mt. Born on December 6, 1943 in Salinas, California, she was a daughter of the late Earl Gray and Jerrie Lewis Hillen.
Mrs. Greenway was the owner of a janitorial service. In her spare time, Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking, eating,
reading her Bible, most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Cornelia.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Standridge and Mickie Gray.

Born on May 30, 1962, in Dearborn, Michigan, she was a daughter of James Murray and Louise Cottenham Murray Dillman. Mrs. Murray was employed as a clerk in the food service industry and in earlier years was weaver at Mount Vernon Mills. In her spare time Lana enjoyed reading the Bible, loved flowers, and especially loved her family. She was of the Baptist faith.
Lana was preceded in death by her brother, James R. Murray.

Born on December 8, 1939, in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late Henry Youngblood and Anna Sosebee Youngblood. Mrs. Gailey was self-employed, she owned a daycare center. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting, shopping, watching movies, and camping. She attended Tallulah Falls School, was a 1959 graduate of South Habersham High School, a member of the Habersham Squares and of Chattahoochee Baptist Church.

and Daisy Mae Humphries Bentley. Mrs. Cook retired from Chicopee/Ethicon, and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, needle point, gardening, reading, shopping, and
traveling (especially to the beach).

John Walton Davis, age 79 of Baldwin, passed away on March 15, 2023.
Born on October 10, 1943, he was the son of the late Thomas Walton Davis and Christine Lolly Motes Davis. Mr. Davis was retired from Henkel Chemical Company, where he was a customer service supervisor for 20 years, and previously worked at American Hospital Supply for 12 years. He was a former chairman of Banks County Democratic Party and a deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Ocala, Florida. In his spare time, John was an artist, a collector of local lore, and a competitive card player, who enjoyed playing golf, and tennis. He loved his family and loved all kinds
of animals, particularly cows, dogs, cats, and guineas.

James “Richard” Dalton age 87, of Demorest, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023.
Born on April 13, 1935, in Baldwin, he was the son of the late Buford Dalton and Stella Duckett Dalton. Mr. Dalton
attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and was a retired flight test engineer with Lockheed and Gulfstream
Aerospace Corporation. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Baldwin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandsons Jonathan Dalton and John Coggins.

Joan Ellenburg Saville, age 67 of Cornelia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Born on April 29, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Roy Lee Ellenburg and Mary Ann Thompson Ellenburg. Mrs. Saville is retired from Advantage Contracting Services. Joan was a member of New Birth Baptist Church where she served as the treasurer. She loved her family fiercely, and in her spare time enjoyed gardening and canning.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Ellenburg.
Survivors include her loving husband, Clifford “Chip” Saville of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Angelia “Angie”

Trudy Cook, age 89, of Baldwin, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023.
Born on July 25, 1933, in Sophia, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John C. Mills and Elsie Woods. Mrs. Cook was a retired secretary for the City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She was known by all for her kind and loving personality, and her volunteer efforts in her local church and community. She gave tirelessly of her time and resources. Most recently, she was a member of Mt. Zion Church of God in
Hiawassee, who enjoyed her animals, music and just having fun.
In addition to her birth parents, she was preceded in death by the parents who raised her, Joseph Farley and Ninivia Leara Farley; daughter, Tami Taylor; and sister, Virgie Schumate.
Survivors include husband, Don Cook of Baldwin; sons and daughter-in-law, Aaron Zeebrook of Delaware, and

Linda Kay Herrin, age 69 of Clarkesville, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at her home,
surrounded by family.
Born on January 24, 1954, she was a daughter of Stella Smith Cleveland and the late Talmadge Watson Herrin. Ms. Herrin worked in accounting and bookkeeping for 25 years. At the age of 63, she received her Bachelors degree in accounting from Piedmont College and continued work towards her Masters degree. Ms. Herrin was proud of growing up on Mud Creek, and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church, where her grandfather, the late John Herrin, pastored in her childhood. Ms. Herrin was a friend to all who met her
and known for her wit and laughter. She enjoyed sharing family genealogy and childhood stories with her children and grandchildren. Favorite pastimes included singing, quilting, reading, puzzles, auctions, coin collecting, and she loved the smell of jasmine in the summer. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her loved ones.
In addition to her father, Ms. Herrin is preceded in death by her brother, Clinton Herrin; sister, Shelby Jean Breeding Herrin; step-father, Grover Cleveland; niece, Amy Baugh Stagner; paternal grandparents, John and Effie Herrin; and maternal grandparents, Luther and Martha Smith.
In addition to her mother, survivors include sons, Adam Arrowood and Kevin Dodson; daughters, Jill Arrowood and Shayna Arrowood; grandsons, Austin and Peyton Kinnarath; granddaughters, Nevaja and Isabella Brown; brothers James and Watson Herrin; sister, Martha Ann Galloway; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Susan Farmer Duckett, age 73, of Cornelia, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
Born on December 22, 1949, in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late Bill Farmer and Bonnie Sullens Farmer. Mrs. Duckett worked as a school teacher in the Hall County School System for 24 years and was an all-around great person. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and flowers.

Robert Howard Jordan, age 90, of Lula, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Born on October 13, 1932, in Alto, he was a son of the late Chalmers Howard Jordan and Willie Pearl Segars Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. For 37 years he was in the fur trade industry. Mr. Jordan also owned and operated Katfish Korner for some
years, and was a poultry grower for 14 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed big game hunting in Canada, Alaska, Africa and the United States. Some of his favorite pass times were watching wildlife shows, as well as Johnny Carson (which he never missed), and he was an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexa Jones Armstrong.
Survivors include wife of 69 years, Oletha Louise Davidson Jordan of Lula; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Cochran (Randy) of Baldwin, and Teresa Martin (Ronald) of Alto; grandchildren, Jake Robert Stargel and Cody Rex Martin; brother, Swayne Jordan of Alto; sister, Virginia Jordan of Alto; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David Earnest Porter, age 72 of Cornelia, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023.
Born on August 24, 1950, in Cornelia, he was a son of the late James Thomas Porter and Dorothy Hogsed Porter. Mr. Porter was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a retired Coach, Assistant Principal, Physical Education teacher. During his career in education, he was employed with Habersham County School System
and also in Cartersville. Mr. Porter was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and a former member of the Cornelia Kiwanis Club. In his spare time, he worked with the Recreation Department, was a builder and Jack of all trades, and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Rosa Jean and Vernon
White, and a brother-in-law, Bill Barden.

Rita “Mama Rita” Rena Burton, age 57, of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
Born on January 4, 1966, in Gainesville, she was a daughter of Phyllis Pruitt Burton and the late Arnold Burton. Mama Rita’s life-long passion was children, and she worked for many years in childcare, most recently with Foundation Academy. So, naturally she loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith, and was an avid Goodwill shopper in her spare time.
In addition to her mother, survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony Fournier (Ashley) of Homer,
and Logan Fournier of Demorest; grandchildren, Lola Rena Fournier, Silas McCoy, and Malachi McCoy; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck Burton (Wendy) of Mt. Born on March 24, 1946, in Alto, she was the daughter of the late William Sanford Thompson and Cora Puckett Thompson Whiteside. Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker who was of the Holiness faith. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, listening to music, especially George Jones, watching wrestling, receiving flowers, putting puzzles together and going to
yard sales. Oramer enjoyed sitting on her front porch and having people dropping in to visit, and from then on you were considered part of the family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William “Bill” Franklin; brothers, James William Thompson, Royce Edward “Pete” Thompson; and father of her children, Leon Davidson.

retired from Habersham County school system where he worked as a bus driver for 10 years, and also had worked in maintenance. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing,
gardening & plowing with a mule. J. B. was a friend to all and could play multiple musical instruments. He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church, Soque Saddle Club and Instrumental
in opening Traditions Pick’n Parlor in Wahalla.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-son, Tony Vandiver; grandson, Kristopher Addis, brothers, James Addis, Junior Addis and Wilford Addis; sister, Minnie Holcomb.

Born on March 30, 1933, in Eatonton, she was a daughter of the late William Burns Franklin and Vinnie Lee Allison Franklin. She worked as a supervisor and trainer at Southern Bell. After
retirement, she worked as a private duty personal care aide. Mrs. Smith was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and AT&T Pioneers. She enjoyed antique shopping and loved the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Hunter and several brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Evelyn Cochran Herrin, age 96 of Cornelia, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at her residence following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family and
numerous friends.
Born on December 10, 1926, in Homer, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late William O. and Mabel Carter Cochran. Mrs. Herrin and her family have owned and operated Forest Lane Mini Mart for many years. She loved gardening! She and her sisters would plant and harvest
sufficient vegetables every year to supply multiple families and her floral display around her house gave pleasure to many passersby. Above all, she loved and enjoyed her family – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!
Evelyn was a very active and long-time member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Sunday School and had, for years, participated in Bible Schools, choir, providing meals, and countless other activities sponsored by her church. Evelyn believed in the power
of prayer and was a prayer warrior who continually prayed for those in need. She touched the lives of many in her community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Perry Herrin; sisters, Margaret Maney, Eloise Shirley, and Joann Cochran; brothers, Jewell, Harold, Bobby, W.O., Theron, and Wilton Cochran.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Herrin of Cornelia; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Herrin (Janice) and Rodney Herrin (Kelley) all of Cornelia; grandchildren, Jonathan Herrin (Emily) of Clarkesville, Jessi Herrin of Cornelia, and Sam Herrin of Auburn, GA; great

Rayford Poole, age 84, of Alto, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
Born on April 11, 1938, in Cornelia, a son of the late J.C. Poole and Lola Poole. Mr. Poole retired from the U. S. Forest Service after 30 years, and after retiring was self-employed in pay phones. He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church, the Shriners, Masons, Fraternal Order of Eagles Erie Lodge in Gainesville, and the Loyal Order of the
Moose Winder Lodge #262. In his spare time he enjoyed deep sea fishing and was a Ham Radio Operator. Rayford is
described by his family as being a hard worker and being loyal to his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Virginia Grace Poole, sister, Betty Sue Elrod; brothers, Terry Poole and Telford Poole.

Osborne Lee “Spud” Dotson, age 75, of Gillsville, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023.
Born on November 23, 1947, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Claude Lee “Red” Dotson and Susie Bell Ramey Dotson. Spud was a mechanic and was a drive train specialist. His family described him as a hardworking man who loved music and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to play. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Welborn.

Ronald “Ronnie” Allen Stewart, age 66, of Martin, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Born on March 14, 1956, in Demorest, he was the son of the late Walter Allen “Dub” Stewart and Imogene Smith Stewart. Mr. Stewart was previously a self-employed truck driver and currently was employed by Wilcorp Environmental. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, old country music, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Lai Chun Tang, age 97, of Cornelia and Duluth, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Born in China on August 18, 1925, Lai Chun immigrated to the USA in 1991. She was part owner of the Bamboo House restaurants of Cornelia and Toccoa. She was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed playing mahjong with her family.
She is survived by her children, Lucia (Barry) Lipsitz, Stephen (Cecilia) Leung, Christina (Stanley) Mok, Connie Leung,
Miranda (Tony) Liu, Wendy Leung; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Nellie “Nell” Mae Hulsey, age 88, of Lula, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Born on February 6, 1934 in Cumming, she was a daughter of the late John Royston Bolton and Annie Holbrook Bolton. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Hulsey worked for Wayne Wilson Pottery for 30 years, she also worked at Shuler’s Deer Cooler and Jaemor Farms. Nell participated in the Peachtree Road race for 10 years beginning at the young age of 75. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Emily McCoy and Grace Samples; brother, Ernest Bolton; son, Roy Jeffery Hulsey; and daughter, Sandra Jo Hulsey.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Joe Paul Hulsey of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Paul M. Hulsey

Kerry “Monk” Lee Wiley, age 65, of Lula, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Wiley was the son of the late A.W. and Versie Wiley. He retired from Hall County School System and was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved to joke. In his younger days, Monk loved team roping and anything with a motor and wheels. In his later years, he enjoyed crossfitting with his kids and playing with his grandson. On Friday nights, you could find Monk playing cards with his brothers and friends. Mondays were always reserved for the “junk sale”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Esther Hawkins; brother-in-law, Jack
Hawkins and sister-in-law, Melba Wiley.

Martha Jean “Marti” Anderson, age 61 of Dahlonega, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023.
Born on January 07, 1962, in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jerome Arnold and Mildred Harn. Mrs. Anderson was formerly employed as a Lieutenant with the Georgia Department of Corrections, and was also a Habersham County Communications Officer for some time. She was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church, who was loved by all who knew her. In her spare time, Mrs. Anderson enjoyed sewing, fishing,
gardening, flowers, and especially baking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, James Arnold.

Frank Joseph Murray, Sr., age 75, of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
Born on October 30, 1947, in Clarkesville, he was the oldest son of the late Levis Murray and Elvedia Cruz
Murray. Frank worked in the family business, Murray’s Insulation, for many years. Over the years, he worked on many large and small construction sites, insulating heating and cooling systems around the state and beyond.
He retired after 48 years of service. He enjoyed watching football in his spare time, especially the Georgia Bulldogs, who were his favorite team. Frank loved his grandchildren dearly, and was a kindred spirit who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Frank Murray, Jr., and Shane Murray; sister,
Jeannie Burrell; brother, Mike Murray.
Survivors include wife of 56 years, Geraldine “Geri” Maney Murray of Cornelia; son, Adam Murray; grandsons,

Born on June 18, 1938, in Clarkesville, she was a daughter of Connie Chester LaPrade and Martha Viola Brookshire LaPrade. Mrs. Garrin was an independent and hardworking mother, who retired from Clarkesville Mill and later from NOK. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest. She particularly enjoyed caring for her pets, and the strays that came to her home from time to time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; Garnett LaPrade, Roy LaPrade, J.C.
LaPrade, Helen Thomason, Janelle Burrell, Betty Sue Whitmire, Imogene Trotter, and Marilyn Griffin.

James William “Jimmy” Hurt, age 85, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
Born on June 11, 1937, in Mt. Airy, he was a son of the late James Clarence “JC” Hurt and Ollie James Hurt. Mr. Hurt was a heavy equipment hauler and of the Baptist faith. He was recognized by his family as a “jack of all trades” and loved working outside, playing the guitar, singing, and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Lee Hurt and sons-in-law, Kim Lawson
and Terry Osborn. He was the last of seven siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Janice L. Hurt of Cornelia; daughters and son-in-law: Elaine and Wayne Higgins, Cathy Hurt Lawson, and Myra Osborn, all of Cornelia; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Lisa Andrews Glore “Aunt Lili”, age 60, of Cornelia, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Born on May 9, 1962, in South Boston, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Randolph Carson Andrews and Barbara Rogers Andrews. Mrs. Glore worked for a number of years at Community Bank & Trust before working at Walmart as a pharmacy cashier. Some of her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, classic cars, and animals. She was an avid reader and wonderful cook. Mrs. Glore was a generous and kindhearted person that stood by her word and was a friend for life. Above all, she was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Glore was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and had a dedicated, strong faith in Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her biological father, Junior Lawson King.

David Wright Sherman, age 89, of Cornelia, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Born on March 17, 1933, in Winchester, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Edgar Jay Sherman and Mary Alden Whittington Sherman. Mr. Sherman worked in home owner marketing services at Errors and Omissions
Insurance. He was previously an Active Director of United Way in Florida as well as a Real Estate Broker. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia where he served as an Elder and was active in the men’s fellowship. Mr. Sherman was a member of Habersham Rotary with 26 years of perfect attendance. He enjoyed fishing, antique cars, gardening, and feeding deer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Edgar Jay Sherman III, John Alden Sherman, and Richard Whittington Sherman.

Brandon Deshun Browner, age 43, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 5,
2023.
Brandon grew up in Habersham County and dedicated his life to sports (Go Tarheels). He was a devoted coach to
many and sought to inspire the next generation of athletes and young men. Brandon coached and played on many
sports teams in his lifetime, influencing countless lives in the process. Most recently, he coached football at Two Rivers Middle School in Nashville, Tennessee, and helped organize a men’s softball team on which he also competed.
Brandon worked as a paraprofessional at Murrell School in Nashville, where he was affectionately known as Coach B. He was a loving father to his two children, Brannon and Bryona Browner. Brandon had a great sense of humor and was an animated storyteller. His infectious laugh never failed to put a smile on people’s faces.
Born on July 16, 1979, in Demorest, Georgia, he was a son of JL and Betty King Browner. He was preceded in
death by his twin sister, Brandi Browner and mother, Betty King Browner. Brandon leaves behind his high school
sweetheart, Rebecca Browner; two children, Brannon and Bryona; father, JL Browner; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Lynn Browner; nephews, Brison and Brett Browner; niece, Brisa Browner; and great niece, Brea Browner.

Born on July 12, 1959, in Demorest, he was a son of the late Silas James King and Sarah Louise Gibson King. Mr. King worked at Magnolia/Westlake Windows and Doors for a number of years. He loved fishing, photography, driving, eating, storytelling, and was a good swimmer. Paul put everyone else before himself which was shown by how greatly he loved his family and community. Mr. King was a dedicated member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, choir member, and trustee.

Velma Moore Sewell, age 87, went to be with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, January 5, 2023.
She was born in Turnerville to the late Virgil and Mae Ivester Moore. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Sewell Jones; sisters: Louise Ivester, Fannie Moore, Inez McGahee, Nancy Tillotson, Valaree Ivester, Ila Ivester; and brothers, Willard Moore and Claude Moore.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Greene (Steve); five grandchildren: Billy Miller (Connie), Mark Miller (Doug), Ryan Garcia (Rob), Jessica Scardina (Todd), Candice Bracken (David); ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by two brothers, Randy Moore (Betty) and Charlie Moore (Jewel) and a loving sister-in-law, Gwen Galloway (Larry). She was blessed to have numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked in textiles in South Carolina before retiring back home to Georgia where she spent many years enjoying
spending time with her siblings before moving back to South Carolina. She was passionate about two things – her family, which meant the world to her and NASCAR. She was lovingly referred to by her NASCAR family as “Queen Mother”.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff of Oaks of Seneca and Agape Hospice Care for their caring
love and support.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Zion Church Road, Clarkesville, Georgia, with Rev. Austin Ivester officiating.

Evelyn Carrie Warwick Freeman, age 87, of Cornelia, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Born on June 18, 1935, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Warwick and Iva “Iver” Irene Jackson
Warwick. Mrs. Freeman worked as a seamstress for many years at Carwood Manufacturing, Clarkesville Garment,
and Baldwin Garment. Evelyn loved flowers and cooking coconut cake, but above all, she loved her family and
“Peanut”. She enjoyed walking and babysitting and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Baldwin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Willie, Claude, and George Warwick; great-great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Green; daughter-in-law, Stacy Freeman; and granddaughters, LaNá Freeman and Hannah Cheek.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Freeman of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law: Deborah and Steve Trotter of Demorest, Teresa Wheeler of Toccoa, and Ann and Donnie Sosebee of Mt. Katlyn “Katie Rose” Gase, age 25, of Alto, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Katie Rose was born on October 21, 1997, in Atlanta. She was a loving person who never met a stranger, and
even in the end helped others out by being an eye donor to at least four others. Katie Rose enjoyed music and singing and was very much loved by her family.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Toby Gase; sister, Ashley Gase; and grandparents, Eugene
and Celeste Hoose and Dan and Judy Gase.

Mary Magaleen Armour Oliver, age 82, of Lula, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022.
Born on December 3, 1940, in Hall County, she was a daughter of the late Taft Armour and Leler Belle Dodd
Armour. Mrs. Oliver retired from Lanier Timber, where she was an office manager for 42 years. She was of the
Holiness faith and attended New Haven Congregational Holiness Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Oliver was steadfast
in her love for her family; a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Mrs. Oliver was an avid shopper and always carried herself in elegant fashion. She was truly one in a million and will be forever missed.

Born on February 12, 1951, in Orlando, Florida, to the late Jesse Montgomery Buntin, Sr. and Ida Mae Ballance Buntin. Jessie was a part of the Avita Community Partners in Demorest. He enjoyed gardening, painting, helping others, and taking care of his home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Buntin and sister, Pat McElreath.

Kathryn “Kathy” Farmer Bellotte, age 59, of Lula, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022.
Born on April 28, 1963, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late William and Opal Farmer. Kathy was a 1981 graduate of White County High School. She worked for Dr. A.C. Johnson Family Medicine as the Office Manager for 15 years and most recently for First Choice Chiropractic. Kathy was a proud Mama and Nana who loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She also was a caregiver for those around her. In her spare time, she enjoyed music, gardening, and especially flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Grover and Katie Miles, William Farmer, and Lillie Farmer Standridge; and brother, Jimmy Farmer.

Arthur G. Cook, age 78, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
Born on June 20, 1944, in Gainesville, he was a son of the late B.W. Cook and Lessie Wade Cook. He retired after 32 years of service from Milliken as a machine fixer. Arthur’s greatest joy was his family and he will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed buying and selling used campers and was an avid gardener. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping, but most of all, he loved the Lord. Mr. Cook was of the Holiness faith and attended Hollywood Church of God, where he played the bass guitar with the choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Rosco Cook, Lamar Cook, G. B. Cook, and Carl Cook.

Joseph “Joe” Scott, Jr., age 80, of Cornelia, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Born on January 4, 1942 in Banks County, he was the son of the late Joe Scott, Sr. and Charity Moss Scott. Mr. Scott retired from Cornelia Veneer after 35 plus years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his garden and also enjoyed flowers, old cars, guns, and listening to music. He especially loved his family and his church family
at Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maggie Gibson; first cousin, Mildred Moss; and son, Tony Scott.

James Howard Sutton, age 87, of Alto, passed away on Friday,
December 2, 2022.
Born on June 17, 1935, in Waynesboro Tennessee, he was a son of the
late Sherman Thomas Sutton and Pearl Gobbell Sutton. Mr. Sutton was
a United States Air Force veteran, and was retired from Shell Oil Company.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church, where he served as a Missionary, Head Elder, and international Lay Minister. Mr. Sutton hosted Loving the Truth on WFMH Radio, and was a Field Representative for Adventist World Radio. He was also a member of Kiwanis, Rotary, and served as Deputy Sheriff. He enjoyed being outdoors on his cattle ranch, as well as, fishing and hunting in his spare time. Mr. Sutton was an avid storyteller, who also played the Doghouse Bass in the Bluegrass/Gospel band, Back Porch Harmony.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Sherman Thomas Sutton, Jr.; twin brothers, Bobby Gene Sutton and Harold Dean Sutton; sister, Helen Pearl Beard. Born on July 23, 1955, in Demorest, he was the son of the late John Hampton Ferguson and Beatrice Smith Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson retired from Mt. Vernon Mills after 46 years, and was of the Congregational Holiness faith. He loved his family and cherished spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and his dogs and cats.

Born on February 26, 1934 in Rome, she was a daughter of the late Jack Dunaway and Emily Broom Dunaway.
Charlotte was retired from Wal-Mart as a sales associate, and was previously employed with Celanese Textile Mill. In her spare time she enjoyed photography, especially weddings. She loved her family dearly, and is described by her family as a giver. Charlotte was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Connie Eller; and granddaughter, Brandy Nicole Fowler.

Richard Dale Greenway, age 62, of Demorest, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
Born on September 23, 1960 in Atlanta, he was a son of the late Quillian J. Greenway and Annie Sue Poole
Greenway. Mr. Greenway had worked in residential construction and was a talented wood worker. In his spare
time he enjoyed playing the drums and going fishing and taking the boat on the lake. Richard loved his family and his greatest achievement was being a Poppa. His Christian faith was the rock of his life. He loved to help those who needed it, and donated money to different organizations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Sandra Greenway; sisters, Brenda
Bell and Beverly Roebuck.

Kim Andrews Couch, age 60, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
Born on August 31, 1962, in Toccoa, she was the daughter of Pat Andrews of Baldwin and the late Edwin Andrews.
Kim worked with Standard Telephone, Community Bank & Trust, and Edward Jones. In her spare time, she enjoyed
doing crafts, working in the garden, and spending time with her cats. She was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tony Shirley and her second husband, Eddie Couch.
In addition to her mother, survivors include daughter, Bridget Shirley of Mt. Airy; son, Andrew Shirley of Mt. Airy; granddaughter, Brianna Ivester; brother and sister-in-law, Jim Andrews (Chrissy) of Mt, Airy; and special caregivers, Marsha Rakes and Stephen Allen.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2022, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and
Stewart with Dr. Brian James officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until the service hour on Monday, at the funeral home.

Eloise Christine “Weezy” Parson Wade, age 89, of Homer, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Born on May 17, 1933, in Maysville, she was a daughter of the late Ervin Carter Parson and Minnie Magnolia Powell Parson. Mrs. Wade graduated from Banks County High School. Over the years, she was employed by the
following: Baker & Taylor in Commerce, where she retired after 20 years; the Hosiery Mill in Gainesville; the Golden Pantry in Homer; Banks County High School where she retired from nutrition. Mrs. Wade was a member of Temple Baptist Church, who also attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was a lifelong resident of Banks County, but recently resided at Jackson Oaks Senior Living in Jefferson. She was loved by many, who knew her for her wonderful recipes that she enjoyed cooking. In her spare time, she also enjoyed puzzles, and traveling the United States, which she did until age 89.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie D. Wade; grandson, Adam Tailor
Wade; brothers, Paul Carter Parson and Edward Parson.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David Wade of Phoenix, Arizona, Danny Wade (Crystal) of Homer,
Dwight Wade (Jean) of Homer, and Derek Wade (Lisa) of Homer; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Jasper “Jack” Parson of Warner Robins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene Magnolia Griggs of Anderson, South
Carolina, Bonnie Parson Marchbanks (Edward) of Demorest, Vickey Parson Thomas of Homer, and Debrah Rose David (Walter) of Homer; brother-in-law, Grady White of Hall County; sister-in-law, Mary Davidson of Demorest; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Stacy Gunter Freeman, age 59, of Clarkesville, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Born on July 19, 1963, she was a daughter of the late Royce Allen Gunter and Lonia Mae Pilgrim Gunter. Stacy
was a homemaker and an L.P.N for 40 years. She was employed at Black Bear Lodge. She loved her family, enjoyed working with the elderly and was a Facebook enthusiast.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Hannah Diane Cheek and Lana Freeman; sisters, Carolyn Wade, Marilyn McAllister and Linda Lee; grandson, Kylen Stamey.
Survivors include her loving husband Ronnie Freeman of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Kyle Stamey (Melinda) of Demorest, Jeff Freeman (Melinda) of Flowery Branch, and Derek Freeman (Teresa) of Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany Bryan (Zack) of Clarkesville; seven grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Don McAllister (Janice) of Cornelia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Teresa Free (Gary) of Clarkesville, Nikki Pritchard (Keith) of Jackson, Tennessee; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

J.R. Reems, age 79, of Baldwin, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022.
Born on April 21, 1943 in Alto, he was a son of the late Myrtle Inez Norton Reems. Mr. Reems was retired from Southern Seed and worked for various companies to include; Cornelia Fire Department; served as the Chief of Baldwin Fire Department; Habersham Hardware, previously known as C & S Builders Supply and in masonry
construction. He was known as a hardworking man, who especially loved his family and his dogs. Mr. Reems
enjoyed racing and was a member of Good News Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Reems.
Survivors include his loving wife or 59 years, Ann McDuffie Reems of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Lawanda Wilbanks (Tim) of Baldwin; grandson and spouse, Chris Wilbanks (Danielle) of Baldwin; great grandchildren, Blake Johnson and Hannah Johnson; sisters, Hazel Lunsford of Clarkesville and Evelyn Holbrooks of Baldwin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cathy Ann Lee age 61, of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Born on October 23, 1961, she was a daughter of the late John Verdale Savage and Lois Whitfield Savage.
Cathy had been employed by Schnadig Corporation and had previously worked at Hardee’s, and Holiday Inn. In her spare time she enjoyed going fishing, cooking for her family, listening to music, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She attended Alto Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David Cunningham; and three brothers, Tony, Randall, and David Savage.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Don Lee of Gainesville; son, John Murray of Bryson City, North Carolina; step-son, Neil Lee of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy Pye (Ronnie) of Bryson City, North Carolina, and Nancy Cunningham Smith (Brandon) of Cornelia; eight grandchildren; brothers, Roy Savage of Alto, and Danny Savage of Cornelia; sister, Mary Glenn Smith of Homerville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Harrison Adams, age 47, of Clarkesville, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022.
Born on October 5, 1975 in Gainesville, he was a son of Sarah Adams of Clarkesville, and the late John Adams.
Mr. Adams was self-employed in lawn care, and was a member of Wauka Mountain Baptist Church. He is described as a kind hearted person who loved his family, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sheena Adams.
In addition to his mother, survivors include sons, Shawn, Kyle and Kevin Adams, all of Clarkesville; brothers
and sister-in-law, Keith Adams of Clarkesville, and Kent Adams (Melissa) of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law,

Ann Maxwell Arwood, age 85, of Clarkesville, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Born on January 7, 1937, in Baldwin, she was a daughter of the late Tatum Lafayette Maxwell and Wilma Ayers
Maxwell. Mrs. Arwood was a homemaker who loved all of her family, and especially her grandchildren. Above all she loved the Lord and her church at Bethesda Fellowship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Junior Arwood; son, Curtis Arrowood;
sister, Margaret Seymore; and brothers, T.L., Edwin, and Eugene Maxwell.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James Arrowood (Dorothy) of Clarkesville, Earnest “Byrd” Arrowood
(Pam) of Clarkesville, and Benny Arrowood; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Maxwell of

Billy Umberhandt, age 68, of Baldwin, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
Born on January 28, 1954, he was a son of the late Lewis David Umberhandt and Evelyn Carpenter Umberhandt. Mr.
Umberhandt retired from Scovill after 18 years of employment. In his spare time Billy enjoyed taking rides through the mountains, loafing around and sitting in his man cave.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, James Umberhandt, Ronnie Umberhandt, J. D.
Umberhandt, and a twin brother; and sister, Linda Umberhandt.
Survivors include, wife, Deborah Umberhandt of the home; son and daughter-in-law, BJ Umberhandt (Leslie) of Baldwin; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Smith (Elaine) of Alto, and Ryan Smith (Tonya) of Clarkesville;
